THE SLUGLETTS LEAVE WINDMOGUL

The Slugletts continued doing Windmogul’s bidding, but they kept their "blue jewel planet" a secret. It was the one thing of beauty in their otherwise bleak and dreary lives. One evening, after an especially hard day’s work that left them completely winded, they decided that they were tired of being Windmogul’s slaves. They hated what he forced them to do to the planets in the galaxy. But they were afraid of the wrath of Windmogul. He was strong and could easily destroy the little caterpillar Slugletts. Then they realized that over the years their numbers had gradually increased to thousands and thousands. Windmogul had gotten so lazy he probably hadn’t even noticed. The Slugletts counted on that. They knew that a few Slugletts could never survive Windmogul’s power but as a great herd, working together, they might stand a chance of defending themselves.

The next morning, Windmogul woke up to find that things seemed very quiet. Upon investigating, he found that all the Slugletts had disappeared. In a rage, he roared off looking for them. He looked all over the galaxy but couldn’t find a single Sluglett. As he was about to give up his search, a shiny blue object in the corner of the galaxy caught his eye. When he went to investigate, sure enough, he found where all the Slugletts had gone. He was so angry that he decided that he would destroy all the Slugletts, as well as the beautiful planet they were hiding on, with one eormous breath. As he took in the biggest breath ever, the Slugletts started to panic. How could they possibly stand up against such a horrible force? One of the Slugletts, HEARTY, assured them that together they could beat him at his own game.

As Windmogul let his gigantic blast of air out, all the Slugletts, in perfect unison, blew air right back at him. Their combined force of air not only stopped his blast of destructive wind but it also turned back on him and he was blown completely out of the galaxy.

That night, the Slugletts had a great celebration. They had defeated Windmogul --- at least for now. They knew that he would never give up and would be back to attack again until all the Slugletts and their beautiful planet and been destroyed.

And they were right. Windmogul does come back, attacking their planet with tornadoes, hurricanes, blizzards, monsoons, thunder storms, snow storms, tidal waves, and even El Nino. And while he does manage to cause some damage, it would be much, much worse if the Slugletts weren’t there to fight back. The Slugletts feel that since they discovered "their" planet and saved it, they have a real responsibility to all living creatures on it. They feel it is their duty to constantly protect the planet for the rest of time from Windmogul and his terrible power over the wind.
